Dominoes: how a round works

Take a moment with Dominoes before moving to another game. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Use the example below to understand a decision. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Something to practise

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Use the example to check your reasoning.

What the game asks you to do

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Notice how the game responds to your input.

The order of play

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Use one clear input at a time.

See how the rules apply

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Choose a deliberate next step.

Check this before moving on

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Check the rule before repeating the action. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
